The Ram 1500 has gone through four main body generations since 1994, and for several years Ram sold two different 1500s side by side. Fender flares are molded to each body, so your model year, and whether your truck is a "Classic", decide what fits. This guide goes generation by generation, covers the exceptions that cause most wrong orders, and points to the flares we carry. For a primer on flare styles and tire coverage, see our truck fender flares guide.
Every Ram 1500 option we list is on the Ram 1500 fender flares page.
Quick fitment table: Ram 1500 by year
| Model years | Generation | Shop |
|---|---|---|
| 1994-2001 | Second generation (Dodge Ram) | 1994-2001 Ram 1500 flares |
| 2002-2008 | Third generation (Dodge Ram) | 2002-2008 Ram 1500 flares |
| 2009-2018, plus 2019-2024 Ram 1500 Classic | Fourth generation (DS) | 2009-2018 Ram 1500 (DS) flares |
| 2019-2026 | Fifth generation (DT) | 2019+ Ram 1500 (DT) flares |
The trap: from 2019 through 2024, Ram kept building the older DS truck and sold it as the Ram 1500 Classic, next to the all-new DT. A 2020 Ram 1500 Classic takes 2009-2018 flares, not 2019+ flares. If your truck says Classic on the badge or registration, or it has the older body style, shop the 2009-2018 page. The product listing's year range is the final word.
1994-2001 Ram 1500
This is the big-rig-style Dodge Ram that a lot of owners are now restoring or building for off-road use. Flares for it are specific to this body, and some older listings show a year range that runs into 2002, so read the range on each listing against your truck. Options include two Lund SX-Sport sets (SX202S and SX202T), a Bushwacker OE Style set and a Husky Liner Pocket Style set. Browse the 1994-2001 Ram 1500 collection.
2002-2008 Ram 1500
The third generation brought a new body, so 1994-2001 flares do not carry over. Some sets for this truck also list the 2500 and 3500 from the same years, which is why you will see combined titles like "2006-08 Ram 1500 and 2006-09 2500/3500". Match both the year and your model. Browse the 2002-2008 Ram 1500 collection.
2009-2018 Ram 1500 and 2019-2024 Ram 1500 Classic (DS)
The DS is one of the most common trucks on the road, and it ran a long time, so it has the widest flare choice in the older range. Because the Classic used the same body, many listings cover both, for example the Bushwacker Pocket Style set for 2009-2018 Ram 1500 and 2019-2024 Classic (50915-02).
- Pocket Style: the Bushwacker 50915-02 above, plus Husky Liner options.
- Extend-A-Fender: for example the Bushwacker Extend-A-Fender front flares (50035-02), a front-only listing, so check whether you need the rear pair too.
- OE and DRT Style: Husky Liner lists sets that span the DS 1500 and the 2010-2018 2500/3500.
Check trim notes on each listing. Some sets exclude specific trims or packages. Browse the full 2009-2018 Ram 1500 (DS) collection.
2019-2026 Ram 1500 (DT)
The DT is a new body with new fenders, so DS flares do not fit it. This generation has the most choice on our site: Bushwacker Pocket Style, OE Style and Forge, Lund RX-Rivet in smooth or textured finish, and Husky Liner Pocket, OE, Extend-A-Fender, RVL and DRT styles.
Two things to check on a DT:
- Exact year range. Some sets cover 2019-2022 or 2019-2024 only, and Husky Liner lists separate sets for 2025-2026 trucks. Match the range on the listing to your model year.
- Front, rear or set. A few listings are rear only, such as the Bushwacker Pocket Style rear flares (50054-02). Titles that say Front or Rear cover one end only.
Factory wide-body trucks such as the TRX have their own fenders, so standard DT flares are not made for them. Check the exclusions on the listing for your trim. Browse the full 2019+ Ram 1500 (DT) collection.
Pocket Style vs OE Style vs Extend-A-Fender on a Ram
- Pocket Style: faux rivets, a bolder profile and more tread coverage. The usual pick with a leveling kit and wider tires. See all Pocket Style fender flares.
- OE Style: slimmer and close to factory lines, with a smaller amount of extra coverage. Good for a clean look at stock height. See all OE Style fender flares.
- Extend-A-Fender: a smooth, wider look without the rivet detail.
Coverage differs by part number, so check the listing for your set and measure how far your tread sits past the fender lip before you choose.
Ram 1500 vs Ram 2500 and 3500
The 1500 and the heavy-duty 2500 and 3500 share a look, but not always the same fenders, and the HD generations change in different years (the HD trucks moved to new bodies for 2003, 2010 and 2019). Only buy a set for a 2500 or 3500 if the listing names your truck. HD owners can use the Ram 2500 and 3500 fender flares page.
What install looks like
Most owners install flares at home with hand tools. The general steps are the same across sets: clean the wheel opening, fit any edge trim that comes in the box, remove the factory parts the instructions call out, hold each flare in place, start every fastener loosely, then tighten once it all lines up. Plastic flexes more easily when warm, so work on a warm day or let the flares sit in the sun first. Some sets use factory mounting points and some need drilling, so read the instructions for your part number before you start.
How to confirm fit before you order
- Find your generation in the table above.
- If you have a 2019-2024 truck, check whether it is a Classic.
- Check the listing's year range, trim exclusions, and whether it is front, rear or a full set.
- Measure how far your tread sticks out past the fender lip.
- Send us your year, trim, cab, bed length and tire size if you want a second check.
Frequently asked questions
Do 2019+ Ram 1500 flares fit a Ram 1500 Classic?
No. The Ram 1500 Classic uses the older 2009-2018 body. Use a flare listed for 2009-2018 Ram 1500 or for the 1500 Classic.
Will 2009-2018 Ram 1500 flares fit a 2019 Ram 1500?
Only if your 2019 is a Classic. The new 2019 Ram 1500 (DT) has different fenders and needs flares listed for 2019 and newer.
Do Ram 1500 flares fit a Ram 2500 or 3500?
Not unless the listing names the 2500 or 3500. A few sets cover both, but most are made for one or the other.
Do Ram 1500 fender flares need drilling?
It depends on the set. Some use factory mounting points and some call for drilling or minor trimming. Read the instructions for your exact part number.
Which Ram 1500 generation do I have?
1994-2001 is the second generation, 2002-2008 is the third, 2009-2018 (and the 2019-2024 Classic) is the DS, and 2019 and newer non-Classic trucks are the DT.
